The North Bay has it all: tall mountains, ocean views, unbeatable bakeries, famous wineries, and miles of quiet roads. The least populous part of the Bay Area, riders will truly feel like they've escaped to a cyclist's paradise.

Four Corners

The relatively short Four Corners Loop is perfect for climbing enthusiasts who may not have time for a long ride. With great views of the Pacific Ocean, plenty of elevation, and low traffic, riders are able to complete a fast and challenging workout in well under two hours.

Wine Country Loop

Starting at Annadel State Park, this route takes riders through wine country and up some seriously challenging cols. Riders begin pedaling alongside wineries on the Sonoma Highway, a perfect chance to warm up before turning onto Trinity Road. A picturesque road enshrouded by trees, Trinity Grade averages 8% and will have your legs burning! From there, you'll pass through St. Helena and into the hills. Levi Leipheimer is the current KOM on Spring Mountain Road, a brutal ascent that is over 13% in certain sections. The road sure is beautiful though, and more than makes up for the pain. Both scenic and challenging, the Wine Country Loop shouldn't be passed up. Of course, you can finish your ride with a celebratory glass of wine!

Tamarancho Clockwise

Considered by many to be the best single track riding option in Marin, Camp Tamarancho is sure to test your MTB skills and fitness. Not for beginners, this trail is full of tight switchbacks and severe climbs. Rocks, roots, ruts, shade, and views, Tamarancho has it all. If you think you’re ready for this fun challenge, make sure to pick up a $5 permit at Sunshine Bicycles in Marin before heading out on the trail.

All local cyclists will agree that it is hard to surpass the beauty of the Marin Headlands. Grab your mountain bike and set out to explore what the Bay Area has to offer. If you like to climb, enjoy quick descents, and appreciate beautiful views, the sublime Miwok Trail is a must ride. Part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Miwok Trail is an incredibly popular fire road that can be tackled on either a mountain or cross bike.

Bakery Challenge

Departing from Tomales Bakery, the Bakery Challenge route provides Athletes with magnificent vistas, delicious pastries, and lots of caffeine. What could be better? From Tomales Bakery, cyclists will head to Wildflour Bread in Freestone before continuing on the Bohemian Highway to Occidental's Hotel Bakery. Enjoy a cinnamon roll at Gold Coast Bakery and if you still aren't full, stop at Raymond's Bakery in Cazadero before climbing Willow Creek. A 3.5 mile climb that averages 6%, you're guaranteed to burn off a few of those pastries! After ascending that beast, no doubt you'll be ready for more food... or a nap. * Tomales Bakery

China Camp

China Camp has something for everyone, whether you’ve just bought your first mountain bike or are a seasoned veteran. The western area of the park offers flatter trails while the eastern part is comprised of carving technical single track. About thirty minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge, China Camp is where most beginner and intermediate riders trek before testing out some of the Bay Area’s more technical trails. With views of the Bay and spectacular scenery in every direction, China Camp is a great place to spend the day.
