Crissy Field to Hopper's Hands
-
Distance 3.2 mi
-
Elevation 48 ft
This is "The" classic San Francisco run. It is an out and back route along the San Francisco Bay. This uber-popular, flat route is great for doing speed work and for people watching. It continues to the far end of the Fort Point parking lot, where a fence stops you from going any further. On this fence you'll see a plaque with a pair of hands labeled "Hopper's Hands". Legend states that Hopper is a Golden Gate Bridge ironworker who noticed that runners were ritually tapping the fence as they turned around. He had a sign made with hands on it so people could slap the hands when they reached the end of the road.

Embarcadero
-
Distance 5.0 mi
-
Elevation 126 ft
If you are looking for a flat place to run in a city famous for hills, look no further than the Embarcadero. This road borders the eastern waterfront of San Francisco and is gratifyingly flat. Traveling the Embarcadero gives one the opportunity to take in some of the sights of San Francisco as you run. When you get to Fisherman's Wharf be alert and ready to weave through plenty of distracted tourists. When you finish, hang out at the Ferry Building, 网上理财项目home to shops and a fantastic farmer's market.

Marin Headlands
-
Distance 8.4 mi
-
Elevation 1,912 ft
The Marin Headlands boasts some of the most spectacular sights in the Bay Area. Those tenacious enough to run nearly 1,000 feet to the top of the Headlands will be rewarded with a panoramic view from the Farallon Islands in the Pacific to Mt. Diablo in the East Bay, as well as San Francisco and Pacifica beyond. The Headlands are excellent for running because the trails are well marked, making it hard to get lost, and there are many ways to modify your route to either extend or shorten your run. Be forewarned that the climbs here are no joke; many are a mile long and over 600 feet up. The highlight of this route is the section through Pirates Cove where the trail hugs low along the coastline and you can watch the waves crashing in against the rocks. Tennessee Valley is a great place to start because of its close proximity to the highway. There are restrooms here but no water so bring your own. Lots of local running and hiking groups like to meet here, so arrive early on the weekends to get a good parking spot. If you are in need of nutrition or gear for your run, the San Francisco Running Company is very close by on Shoreline Highway.

-
Double Dipsea
-
Distance 14.2 mi
-
Elevation 4,298 ft
The Dipsea Trail has become legendary because of the famous Dipsea Race, the oldest trail race dating back to 1905, which starts in Mill Valley and finishes in Stinson Beach for a total of 7.4 miles. This challenging course features a significant amount of climbing, some incredible views and a whole lot of bragging rights. If you have never done the Dipsea before it is recommended to run with someone who is familiar with the course as the trails are not well marked and navigating the road crossings can be a bit tricky. If you stick to the traditional course you will start at Old Mill Park, climb 688 steps, descend back down into Muir Woods, then begin another relentless climb ending at the top of the infamous Cardiac Hill. Catch your breath here as you take in a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. There are still a few miles of technical trails to go before you reach the ocean. Once you arrive in Stinson Beach you can either take the bus back to the start or you can head back the way you came to complete a "Double Dipsea" racking up over 4,200 feet of climbing. If you need to refuel in Stinson, stop in to the Stinson Beach Market at the corner of Shoreline Hwy and Calle Del Mar.

-
Ninja Loop
-
Distance 11.5 mi
-
Elevation 2,266 ft
This loop through the Marin Headlands starts at the parking lot on the northwest side of the Golden Gate Bridge off of Conzelman Road, providing the most convenient access point from San Francisco. This route's tradition goes back several years to when a few ultra-runners decided to squeeze in a trail run into the early morning hours. If you want to start your run before dawn (like a true ninja!), be sure to bring a headlamp. You'll earn your breakfast as you log over 2,000 feet of climbing including two epic climbs on the Miwok and Marincello trails. The early wake-up will ultimately pay off as you crest the final ridge and witness a breathtaking sunrise over San Francisco. There isn't a restroom or drinking fountain at the trailhead so come prepared. You will find outhouses (no water) along the trail at the intersection of McCullough Road and the Coastal Trail and then again at the end of the Old Springs Trail in Tennessee Valley.

-
Northside Loop
-
Distance 8.3 mi
-
Elevation 1,143 ft
The beauty of the Northside loop is that it follows the contours around the top of Mt. Tamalpais so you never encounter any insurmountable climbs. Instead you will experience gentle rolling hills, lush green forests on the Northside Trail and amazing views of the entire bay from the south face of the mountain. The terrain on this route varies from technical single-track including a stretch of loose shale, to spacious fire roads. At the intersection of Old Railroad Grade and Rock Springs Trail you will come across the historic West Point Inn. The Inn was built in 1904 as a restaurant stop for passengers on the Mt. Tamalpais and Muir Woods Railway, which no longer exists. Take a break here to enjoy the view and use the restroom. Before you finish the loop, you will run through the Mountain Theater, an outdoor stone amphitheater built in the 1930's. Run directly through the center row and hook up with the trail on the other side. You may want to fill up your bottle at the drinking fountain here because, although there are outhouses back at Rock Springs, there is no running water.

-
Distance 6.7 mi
-
Elevation 112 ft
"A local favorite of many Strava employees and friends, steeped in history and hammers, this 6.7-mile out-and-back route takes you through the affectionately known Industrial Wasteland, eventually hitting the peninsula of Heron's Head Park where you make the turnaround. Remember, if it's easy as 1-2-3, you know you've done it right." - The Mayor
